In-office teeth whitening is performed at our clinic by your dentist. We do all the work, while you lie back in the dentist’s chair! Your dentist will first cover up your lips and gums with a special barrier, leaving only your teeth uncovered. A hydrogen peroxide gel will then be applied to your teeth for increments of 15-20 minutes, to break apart the carbon bonds that create the discolouration and stains, thereby starting the bleaching process, without affecting the structure of your tooth. When the process is complete, you are left with whiter and brighter teeth. The process typically takes approximately 60 minutes, and the procedure is repeated 2-3 times for the best result.
With take-home teeth whitening, we supply you with a safe and professional quality tooth whitening kit that you can take home and use yourself in the comfort and privacy of your own home. Included in the kit are custom made plastic trays that we create using impressions of your teeth, along with a hydrogen peroxide whitening gel. The trays are filled with the gel and worn over the teeth for approximately 30 minutes, twice a day. Most patients see excellent results in just two weeks, although individual results can vary.
